Fiber-Optic Cables: Safer & Faster Data Transmission
Also known as optical fibre cables or optic cables, they transmit data by using light, which travels hundreds of kilometres more quickly than traditional electrical cables.
As fibre-optic cables are not made of metal, they are unaffected by electromagnetic interference (ie. lightning) which can slow down transmission. Additionally, fibre cables are safer because they don't carry current and can't cause a spark.

Fibre Optic Sensors: Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) of Buildings and Trains
We provide fibre optic sensor measurements ie. Strain monitoring of buildings and railway.
We use the data logger - Fibre Bragg Grating (FBG) reading unit as the main Sensor System for sensor measurements.
Provides information on:
-
Vibration
-
Weight
-
Strain
-
Temperature
-
Acceleration
And more for real-time monitoring of rail tracks, trains, and buildings
Upgrade to Fibre: Amplify Efficiency, Reduce Costs!

How does The Fibre Optic Sensor work?
-
Fibre Bragg Grating (FBG) sensors are fabricated in tiny optical fibres and the sensing signals can be read at distances more than 100km away.
-
They're unaffected by external interferences (ie. Electromagnetism, lightning), and can monitor points unreachable by traditional electrical sensors
Railway Track Safety with Fibre Bragg Grating (FBG) Sensors
-
Sensors can be installed on rail track fasteners, clips, bogie, train body, chassis, and axle boxes
-
They ensure trains are running safely, and Operators will be alerted to pending hazards, enabling quick rectification to protect against fatal accidents.

Advantages of Using Fibre Optic Cables
1. Better Bandwidth and Data Transfer - Fiber optic cables have much greater bandwidth than copper cables.
2. Faster Speed - Fibre optic cables far outstrip the speed of high-grade Cat6 copper cables. Faster processing and download speed results in greater business productivity.
3. Improved Latency - Lower latency, better voice quality, ability to move documents, download and upload large files without disruption.
4. Longer Transmission Distance - Unlike copper cables, fibre optic cables can reach 10's of kilometres in distance compared to the maximum 100-metre distance of copper cables since it has a low rate of power loss.
5. Fewer Interference - Since fibre optic cables don't carry electrical signals, they can transfer data quickly over much longer distances without suffering significant signal degradation.
6. Safety and reliability -
Fibre optic cables are:
-
Thinner, lighter and sturdier, and are less prone to damage and breakage.
-
Resists corrosive elements that often affect copper cables.
-
Safe from fire even when damaged or aged as they don't carry current.
7. Security – Fiber optic cable keeps data secure. Unlike copper cables, which require equipment to be housed at distribution points throughout a facility, it provides higher physical security because all hardware and electronics can be installed in one central location.

Fibre Optic Cabling Projects
Underground Fibre Optic Cabling
Advantages
1. Not Visible
-
Hidden underground, it allows the infrastructure above-ground to be clear of cables
2. Less Space is Required
-
Since the cables are buried underground, less space is needed to lay the fibre optic cables while getting the same connection quality. It's advantageous when spaces are limited.
3. Less likely to be damaged by above-ground elements
-
Safe from wildlife and poor weather conditions.
